Paranormal Erotica: The Wight (Sample)
Marcus and Aylin led me through the timberland.
We walked for miles over a winding stone pathway. Coniferous trees lined the haphazard stone trail. After what seemed like hours, we arrived at the house. The enormous Frank Lloyd Wright building towered into the sky three stories, standing out from the silhouetted trees. The building’s placement, nestled into an alcove of birches, hinted that the architect wanted to juxtapose the quadrangle with the forest’s natural calm.
After we rounded a bend, a Labrador bolted from the underbrush ahead.
“Shadow!” Marcus beamed. He dropped to one knee, and the animal fell into his outstretched arms. He ruffled the pet’s head, grabbed a twig from the ground, and launched it toward the house. The dog ran after it with excitement. Marcus rose from his knee with effort.
I studied the couple as we continued walking.
Aylin’s pallid skin and jet hair contrasted well. As she walked, her shear white sundress clung to her ample hips and luscious breasts. Nipples pressed against the thin material. A slight breeze blew the fabric everywhere, exposing her long legs. Her features, devoid of makeup, carried an eerie countenance, an effortless magnetic beauty that drew me to her.
Marcus had sandy brown hair and a beard. Something about him appeared sallow and drawn thin, and every few steps he needed to rest and gather more strength. This seemed odd considering his large athletic body and middle age.
We continued along the path. I glanced again at the couple as we neared the front landing. Their smiles revealed pride for the building.
Marcus said, “Welcome to our home.”
Aylin smiled as she ushered me into the building. As I passed her, an arousal appeared throughout my body as if crossing the home’s threshold activated it. A sudden yearning for her body gripped me. I tried to banish the hunger. I had business here, and I didn’t want to jeopardize a big sale.
Weeks ago, the couple sent a letter to my book shop mentioning an acquisition. I answered it with a phone call. Marcus and I engaged in small talk until he revealed Aylin sought a rare copy of Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales. A week passed as I made calls and set meetings with collectors until I fulfilled her request. I journeyed the four hours to their lake, met them, and we started our trek through the woods.
The home’s interior appeared as majestic and alien as the exterior. Most of the furniture had a sparse elegance, with a futuristic Clockwork Orange air. Curved shapes complemented the conservative lines of the architecture. The massive area impressed me. We moved through the house to the living area. The vast room had a balcony that led to what I assumed were bedrooms.
The couple sat on a couch and I chose an expensive armchair. I opened my leather satchel. The woman’s eyes lit up. Her gaze went from the bag to my body and back. Arousal affected me again. Our eyes met. An understanding passed between us. Maybe this woman wanted more than the sale.
